Children's Environmental Health Network



National multi-disciplinary project whose mission is to protect children from environmental hazards through promoting a healthy environment.

The Network focuses on promoting the development of a sound public health and child-focused national policy; elevating public awareness of environmental hazards to children; educating health professionals, policy makers, and community members in preventive strategies; and stimulating prevention-oriented research.

The Network's website contains a complete collection of information materials and publications, including the Resource Guide on Children's Environmental Health as well as information about Upcoming Conferences relating to children's environmental health.

Roots & Shoots



Founded by Jane Goodall in the hope that young people can make their world a better place, Roots & Shoots includes over 8,000 registered groups in almost 100 countries around the world.

Dr. Jane Goodall is a tireless advocate for environmental stewardship, personal action and humanitarianism. The Roots & Shoots global program emphasizes the principle that knowledge leads to compassion, which inspires action.

The Roots & Shoots program encourages young people from pre-school to university level to coordinate activities locally that promote care and concern for the environment, animals and the human community. For teachers, community leaders and youth, Roots & Shoots provides the opportunity to connect globally and act globally. Resources include publications, global partnership programs, newsletters and activity guides to bring Roots & Shoots into classrooms, after-school clubs, community groups and homeschool networks.

Sponsored by NRDC and the Healthy Schools Network, The Green Squad is a fun, fact-packed website for kids, parents and teachers to take action for greener, healthier schools and the environment.

Kids' Planet

Sponsored by the Defenders of Wildlife to educate children about endangered species such as wolves.

Teachers' Table offers educators a Wolf Curriculum which can be downloaded as well as a Bibliography of threatened and endangered species.

On-line activities for children include: Wild Animal Facts Sheets about various species many of which are threatened or endangered, Color Your World of endangered animals to color, Web of Life story as well as a variety of Wild Games.
